Five tips for getting back on track after your summer holiday

The tan has faded, the kids are back at school and the alarm clock is going off at an unearthly hour.

Yes, the summer is well and truly over and it’s back to the daily grind.

For some of us the transition from holiday to work mode is easy, but for others it can be a challenge.

Here are five tips to help you transition back into a healthy work routine:

1. Get to bed early

This is so important for getting your sleep cycle back on track. Even if you go to bed 15 minutes earlier each night until you’re back to your normal bedtime, it will help.

It’s also worth remembering that making healthy choices and decisions is much easier when you’re well rested and have the energy to think.

2. Plan your next trip

If you’re feeling down about being home, start planning your next trip and give yourself a new goal.

It’s much easier to throw yourself into work if you have something to look forward to.

3. Exercise

It’s often said that exercise is the answer to everything; and that’s because it’s true!

Our physical well-being feeds our emotional well-being so going to the gym, doing an exercise class or simply walking for half an hour during your lunch break will make you feel a lot better about being back at work.

It’s also a great way to shift those excess holiday pounds.

4. Treat Yourself

Even though you’re back at work it doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy yourself.

Treat yourself to your favourite drink at the local coffee shop on your way to work or download some new music or a podcast to liven up your commute.

5. Book a massage

For the ultimate treat, why not book a relaxing massage during your lunch hour?

At Hands on at Work we offer a range of work-place treatments, starting at just £25.
