08 May How to organise a corporate wellbeing day
More and more businesses are creating and delivering effective employee wellbeing strategies.
A great way to boost an employee wellbeing policy (or to get one started) is to organise a wellbeing day.
Here are some tips to help you do this:
Think about what should be included
Commonly your overall aim with the day will be to reward your staff and ensure they’re able to:
Work more effectively
Keep (or get) active
Eat more healthily.
Think about where and when it will take place
This will of course depend upon the location and size of your organisation but you could programme either an on-site or an off-site event.
And if you’re unsure about putting all business operations on hold for a full day, you could split activity and timings across teams and departments.
Think about who you’ll need to bring in
You’re likely to need support from a number of external consultants and these may include:
Time management and workplace stress management experts
Fitness, health and weight-management specialist
Diet and nutrition experts.
Think about how you’ll ensure everyone gets involved
Predominately this must be a fun, positive and educational day.
To ensure this happens, especially if a large team is involved, the organiser may face some quite complex logistical challenges.
You may therefore, also need to call in professional event facilitator to help you plan and run your day – and ensure everyone takes part.
Think about the spaces and the equipment you’ll need
As well as perhaps classroom sessions on effective ways of working, you may include cookery schools; keep fit, meditation, massage and mindfulness classes and even creative fun/ team building sessions.
There are lots of options so a good starting point could be to ask your people, what they’d like to see included.
Think about the long-term impact
Ultimately you’ll want your staff to improve their health and workplace habits and maintain them.
Team or individual ‘future pledges’ as well as follow up events may play a part in this.
