08 Apr Mental Health Awareness week
Mental Health Awareness Week is soon approaching us and takes place from 18-24 May 2020. Mental Health Awareness Week has been run by the Mental Health Foundation since 2001.
This year’s theme is ‘sleep’ and the week will focus on the connections between our sleep, or lack of it and our mental health.
Mental Health Awareness Week is the UK’s national week to raise awareness of mental health and mental health problems and inspire action to promote the message of good mental health for all.
During Mental Health Awareness Week, hundreds of events take place around the country to raise awareness for mental health with schools, businesses, community groups taking part hosting events to raise money for the Mental Health Foundation.
What resources are available?
A great start is to look at the website for Mental Health UK, they have lots of resources available, some of which are free and some that are available to purchase:https://www.mentalhealth.org.uk/campaigns/mental-health-awareness-week/faqs
They also sell their green ribbon pin badges, which have proved to be extremely popular – the international symbol of mental health awareness .
All proceeds there go towards their goal of creating a world with good mental health for all.
What can I do in the workplace to raise awareness of Mental Health Awareness week?
Mental Health UK have lots of ideas on their website, listed from A-Z: https://www.mentalhealth.org.uk/get-involved/as-a-fundraiser/fundraising-a-to-z
Do something a little different this Mental Health Awareness week, refresh, relax and re-energise with our workplace wellbeing treatments.
A lot of our clients use Mental Health Awareness Week to book our workplace massage, laughter yoga, yoga and Pilates sessions for their employees to allow them to have time out from a busy work day. Employees who feel their hard work and efforts are recognised by their employer will go that extra mile, feel part of a team and be more inclined to have a positive attitude towards their work. This will lead to a more engaged and cohesive team which in turn will reflect in excellent customer service keeping your clients happy and loyal to you.
Some businesses choose to enjoy activities throughout the week, such as nutritional workshops, where they can create a tasty lunch, a session of laughter yoga, bacon rolls for breakfast and a cocktail masterclass – the options are endless and the choice is yours!
Keep your staff healthy happy and motivated with workplace massage – the perfect way to bring wellbeing into your workplace. Seated acupressure massage is ideal for both male and female employees and for all ages. It targets areas of tension and muscle soreness in your back, neck and shoulders, arms and hands providing relief from muscle aches and pains often aggravated by repetitive strain and posture related issues.
