1 in 4 people suffer with Mental Health issues and as low as 1 in 2 in some demographics of the UK.
Sadly, there is a stigma attached to mental health, where people are made to feel lonely, worthless and ashamed. We’re still afraid to talk; not being able to talk about it can be one of the worst parts of the illness.
Talking about mental health can break down barriers – today it’s #TimeToTalk.
Being comfortable talking about mental health means we can break down stereotypes, improve relationships and aid recovery. Let’s take the stigma out of something that affects us all at some point in our lives.
Time To Talk Day first launched in 2014 and since then, it has sparked millions of conversations in schools, homes, workplaces, in the media and online. Even celebrities have shared their stories to try smash the stigma and others have joined forces with charities, Stephen Fry for example is President of Mind
Time to Talk day is the perfect opportunity to take the first step to get your workplace/school/community talking about mental health. However, you do it, make 7 February the #timetotalk about mental health issues.
It’s time to be preventative instead of reactive and provide a positive impact on people’s lives.
