A healthy motivated and engaged workforce will be hard working, make a positive contribution to the business and have respect for its employer leading to excellent customer service and satisfaction.

Who wouldn’t like the idea of a massage at work?

Workplace massage is a highly popular employee perk that also has benefits for businesses in terms of employee engagement, health and wellbeing and generally making your employees feel cared for.

But who is it for?

It is ideal for employees of all ages and mobilities.

Sat at a computer all day – restrictive movement or lack of exercise during the day resulting in muscle tension and stiffness in your back, neck and shoulders, arms and hands, the massage provides welcome relief.

On your feet all day e.g. retail workers, teachers/lecturers – tiredness from aching, painful muscles, the chance to take the weight off your feet and just switch off and relax is hugely beneficial.

Construction/Manufacturing – heavy lifting, driving machinery, or repetitive actions take their toll on your body. Having a regular massage at work helps keep those problems under control.

NHS and other stressful professions which are draining on both physical and mental health – the connection between emotions and how it affects our bodies is well documented, massage permits you to stop; close your eyes, and succumb to 15 minutes of pure relaxation.

Adapted to suit you, it is firm and relaxing or if you prefer, invigorating, deeper, and stronger. Or melt into a calming Indian head massage.

The workplace massage is tailored to what you need and incorporates stretching to encourage you to get your body moving.

It is carried out over clothing, no oils are used, making it ideal for workplaces in all sectors.

All therapists are qualified in the treatments they deliver and provide after-care advice so the benefits of the massage continue between appointments.

OSG massage at work

What are the benefits of workplace massage?

First and foremost, it creates a great atmosphere, there is a ‘buzz’ in the room, filled with anticipation of having a wonderful massage.

It is difficult to feel down and stressed when those endorphins (or ‘happy hormones’) are released.

Creating feelings of positivity and lifting the spirits of those around you is infectious.

The physical benefits include:

  • Keeping on top of muscular problems such as tightness and pain before they develop into something more sinister leading to days off work with musculoskeletal problems.
  • Increasing the flow of oxygenated blood, relieves the agony of aches and pains often aggravated by repetitive strain and posture-related issues.
  • The power of touch is immense, promoting feelings of relaxation and calm to help you switch off from work.

Why offer your employees workplace massage?

  • For all the reasons mentioned above. In particular, if an employee is off sick with musculoskeletal problems, this creates an increased burden on others to cover sickness absence and possible further repercussions if the stress on those carrying extra workloads, leads to anxiety and other negative mental issues.
  • Happy engaged employees who appreciate you organising the massages and supporting their physical and mental health
  • Rewards and Recognition Schemes. Workplace massage is a brilliant way of showing employees their hard work is recognised and rewarded which in turn increases motivation and positive mental health.
  • As an integral part of your health and wellbeing policy to reap long-term benefits.

Employees who know their hard work and efforts are recognised by their employer will go that extra mile, feel part of a team, and be more inclined to have a positive mental attitude towards their work. This leads to engaged and cohesive teams, and less sickness-related absence, which in turn creates excellent customer service, keeping both staff and clients happy and loyal to you.
